The film wing of the POP Montreal festival — Film POP — debuts its Ciné Club screening series at Espace POP with Absolute Beginners, the 1986 musical adaptation of Colin MacInes’s novel about 1950s London. The film, which organizers call “unfairly maligned,” was directed by famed punk documentarian/video-director Julien Temple and co-stars David Bowie as the villain.
