Spiffy Moves, a locally made visual art and experimental writing magazine, launches its second issue with a party at Espace POP — expect music and video projections, snacks and drinks. It’s opening night for a six-night run of the touring stage adaptation of the classic 1980s Patrick Swayze/Jennifer Grey film Dirty Dancing at Place des Arts, directed by James Powell and choreographed by Michele Lynch. Head to the Plant for a mixed bag of programming to celebrate La Jour de la Bétoine, (a flowering plant) including conversations with writers Jeff Miller and Olivia Wood, short film screenings by local filmmakers and performances by Toronto’s Hooded Fang (launching a new album) and HSY plus locals Holy Data. Bowie party alert!
