POP Montreal’s film wing, Ciné-Club Film Pop, presents a screening of Beyond the Lights, a 2014 “feminist melodrama for the Beyoncé era” by Gina Prince-Bythewood, director of Love & Basketball and The Secret Life of Bees. Espace POP (5587 Parc), 7 p.m., $5

Down the hill at the Phi Centre, you can catch a free screening of Los Punks, a new documentary about L.A.’s punk scene with director Angela Boatwright in attendance for a post-screening Q&A, plus performances from punk bands Age of Fear, Parasytes and FaZe. Get there early — only a few tickets will be available at the door.
