The Just for Laughs festival ramps up tonight with killer local comics: the JFL edition of the Brunch Club’s Arts and Laughs goes down at the Wiggle Room (3874 St-Laurent, 8 p.m., $20.87); right after that, the burlesque bar hosts Tranna Wintour and Thomas LeBlanc, who will engage in a battle of words over Ms. Dion in Saint Celine (3874 St-Laurent, 10 p.m., $20.87) — this show repeats at the same time and place on Friday and Saturday; and part one of The Montreal Show, featuring seven must-see local acts plus host Rodney Ramsay (Montreal Improv, 3697 St-Laurent, 10:30 p.m., $20.87). The MEG music festival begins today, bringing “Montreal Electronique Groove” to venues around the Plateau (and to Piknic Electronik on the weekend, through July 31). Tonight’s opening show features Mansfield TYA, Strangerfamiliar and CO/NTRY (formerly Country).
