Check out the final day of this weekend’s Stop Motion Film Festival, now in its 8th edition, with several screenings throughout the day showcasing stop-motion films from professional filmmakers to amateurs and students, culminating with an evening awards ceremony. Stroll down Mont-Royal avenue today for l’Avenue Gourmande, a special showcase of the restaurants and foodie shops that line the street, with vendors, tastings, workshops and activities centred around tents facing the Mont-Royal metro station and all along the avenue. Summer is winding down, but there’s still a few editions of Piknic Électronik left, and today’s event boasts a killer line-up headlined by London heavyweight DJ Harvey plus Amsterdam’s Young Marco and L.A.’s Lovefingers, with an Anoma Records showcase featuring locals Ohm Hourani and Magnamine. After l’Avenue Gourmande — or after you crawl out of bed, for those of you on rock ‘n’ roll time — check out a 5à7 listening party marking the release of a new record by local rockabilly artist Eddy Blake. 4481 St-Denis, 5–7 p.m., pass-the-hat suggested donation $10

Texas post-rock band Explosions in the Sky play Metropolis tonight, with opener Julianna Barwick, a Brooklyn-based experimental artist — be sure to arrive promptly to catch her set. 59 Ste-Catherine E., 8 p.m., $27/$30
