Montreal’s annual contemporary dance festival Quartiers Danse opens today with a free outdoor lunchtime dance performance at Jardins Gamelin, featuring three works including the premiere of choreographer Andrea Peña’s Zero Uno Uno Zero plus Victoria Mackenzie’s Hexad Myriad and Soul Origins. The Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) invites the public to help harvest the apples of their lawn’s orchard with a community apple-pick this afternoon. Bring your reusable bags and carry home as many apples as you can pick, plus a free guide to cooking with apples. Check out a free outdoor screening of Nicolas Winding Refn’s already-classic 2011 film Drive, starring Ryan Gosling as a Hollywood stuntman who moonlights as a getaway driver.
